This week we have a special blog feature from vintage loving rockabilly, Dotty Rouge! She's spoilt us for choice with her blogger's review of our 'Chambray Spot Dress'. Showing how to wear it 5 different ways, she's given you plenty of vintage inspired tips on how to style up and wear this dress, not matter what the occassion!
We have lots of love for her over at Madam Rage HQ, and hope you enjoy her post as much as we did!
Madam Rage is one of my favourite online shops. Their clothes are always great quality, low cost and beautiful so today's blog is going to feature their Chambray Spot Dress. I first discovered Madam Rage when I was into "playful vintage" and bought a great 60s style dress that I still love and wear a year and a bit later. As a student on a limited budget, Madam Rage is always a great place to shop as their clothes are great quality without having too big a price tag. I cannot fault this company as they always deliver on style and service so definitely go and check out their website! (www.madamrage.com)
I was a little sceptical about the Chambray Spot Dress initially because as a 50s girl it was a very different shape to the majority of my wardrobe but as soon as I put the dress on and did a bit of accessorising, I loved it! The material is light weight yet still warm, making it the perfect spring/summer crossover dress and it's pale denim colour means it can be paired with most other coloured accessories, tights, jackets or cardigans. It's polka dot print is super cute and brings the dress right into fashion with latest print trends. I love the versatility of the Chambray Spot Dress because it means that you can use it as a wardrobe staple, re-wearing it in multiple combinations without looking like you're wearing the same old thing again. You could really dress it down, and it's even the perfect dress for a trip to the beach over your bikini or swimsuit, or you could dress it up with some heels, a leather jacket and a clutch for a night out. I would really recommend this dress as I think it looks and feels great. And, at £24.00 it's great value!
Here are just a few ways I accessorised the dress to create 5 very different looks.
Look One- Playful
For the first look, I teamed the Chambray Spot Dress with some bright pink Dr Martens and a pink Bowler Hat from Minimum Mouse. This is probably my favourite look of the five and is a great look for everyday wear. For example, you could wear this to college or university or even for a shopping trip. It's very relaxed and also comfortable yet still stylish.
Look Two- Rockabilly
Look Two is a lot more like my usual wardrobe. I teamed the dress with a black waspie belt here to gain the nipped in waist effect that I adore and put a college jacket from New Look over the top to complete the look. Again, this is a really wearable everyday look that you could team with converse or ballet pumps. But this is also a look that is dressed up quite easily by putting on some heels instead. This look, for me, is reminiscent of summer nights, something I am really looking forward too!
Look Three- Swinging Sixties
Look three reminds me of the swinging sixties with the short dress and white tights. I did very little accessorising for this look except for putting my hair up into a beehive and adding some cream/white tights, simple yet cute.
Look Four- Colour Pop
Look four uses colour to really make the dress pop. Here, I added a pair of red tights; a heart shaped belt to give that nipped in waist effect and put a red bow in my hair to carry the pop of colour throughout the outfit. This is a really fun and playful look that you could easily dress up with a pair of heels. You don't have to colour pop with red, you could try yellow, green, pink, blue, white, and even orange. Be bold!
Look Five- Double Denim
The final look I did was a double denim look. Whilst the dress isn't made of denim it has a denim look to it. Here, I added a denim shirt, tied at the front. This is another great summer look and would look great teamed with some Converse, sandals or even Dr Martens.
